年末、黒竹林の整備に数日、山小屋に滞在していらっしゃったそう～
足腰の強さ、お元気さには脱帽です。
やあ、みんな元気かい？
去年のくれに、ろこおばあちゃんの山小屋の黒竹林の下草刈りをしたよ。
ながいこと下刈をしていなかったから、大仕事だったけど、やぶのなかから、おもいがけず、
真っ赤なサンキライやマンリョウの実があらわれたときは、その美しさに感動したよ。
巨大な栗の木もみつかったよ。本当は、ろこおばあちゃんが、30年前に苗木を
植えたものだったけど、すっかりわすれていたんだ。
栗のイガがいっぱいおちていたけどみんなからっぱだったよ。
来年ががたのしみだよ。

The end of last year, we mowed the undergrowth of the black bamboo grove
behind the Grandma Roko’s mountain lodge.
It was a big job because we hadn’t cut the weeds for a long time.
When the bright red Sankirai and Manryo fruits appeared, we were impressed by their beauty.
We also found a huge chestnut tree.
The truth is, Grandma Roko planted it 30 years ago.
But she had completely forgotten it.
We found a lot of thorny shells of the chestnut tree, but all of them were empty.
We are looking forward to next year.
